Charles Leclerc 'very happy' to continue with Sebastian Vettel
Charles Leclerc has reiterated that he doesn’t mind if Sebastian Vettel remains with Ferrari next season, adamant they have a “good” relationship.
Vettel’s future is one of the hot topics in Formula 1’s extended hiatus.
The German has reportedly been offered a one-year deal for 2021 but it is one that comes with a massive pay cut.
Some reports claim Vettel has said no to that, apparently calling it a “joke” offer.
Those reports came shortly after the four-time World Champion spoke about always having a “three-year” contract but adding that the duration of his next deal would have to suit both his and the team’s objectives.
But while Vettel is contemplating the future, Leclerc is signed and sealed as a Ferrari driver until the end of the 2024 championship.
If he spends some of those years with Vettel as his team-mate, he insists he’s okay with that despite a few clashes last season.
“I am very happy with Seb,” said the Monégasque driver.
“It was good even though we’ve had some few problems on the track, like in Brazil.
“I think it has always been a good relationship even though from the outside it was probably not seen as it was but it’s always been good between us.”
Leclerc, though, says he will “respect” whatever call Ferrari makes.
“I will respect Ferrari’s decision for whoever is next to me,” he added.
“At the end it’s my job to adapt to the person next to me and you can always learn from whoever is your team mate.
“I will welcome anybody. But if Seb stays I will definitely be happy.”
