How did Martha injure her ankle?

She filled in her followers on what caused the ruptured Achilles tendon in the first place.

“Most such ruptures occur when dancing or playing sports. Mine was caused by a surprise step into a hole in the dark getting out of the car,” she wrote.

Although it’s a major bummer, Martha is getting lots of love and support as she heals from her famous friends. Ellen Pompeo commented, “Glad to hear you are on your way to a full recovery !!! Lots of love from your favorite fake doctor ❤️.” And Drew Barrymore wrote, “Your still so sexy !!! so so so sexy!”

Martha underwent a three-hour surgery on her ankle.

Martha shared that her injury required surgery. Her recent procedure at NYU Langone hospital went well.

“The great @drjohnkennedy @nyulangone performed a three hour operation yesterday to repair the damage,” she wrote in the caption.

NYU Langone commented on her post with well wishes, writing, “We’re so glad your surgery went well. Sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery! 💐💜

Martha’s current recovery plan includes relaxing.

She is now recuperating at home and has “been ordered to lay still with leg elevated for two weeks. After that another two to four weeks of crutches. Then maybe some more normal activity,” she shared.

She revealed exactly what that looks like in a new series of pics. In one, she’s laying on a heated yoga mat with her foot elevated on a pillow.

“There are many ways to recuperate from a serious surgery I was told about @biomatofficial – by my yoga guru @marykatemurrayyoga It is a full size heating mat with fine restorative qualities. Perfect for tired, wounded , recovering or ill patients The mat heats to 158 degrees Check it out!!!!,” she captioned the pics. Btw the mat costs between $700 and $2,100.

Here’s hoping for a quick recovery, Martha!
