Brits finally got to bask in the sunshine this Bank Holiday weekend as the sun made a welcome return and the UK weather finally perked up.

However, it seems a lot of people forgot to put on their SPF as many complained about painful sunburn on social media afterwards.

And if that's you, we might have something to help.

That's because one mum has shared a 30-minute "miracle" shaving foam hack, clotrimazole (lotrimin mycelex) or ketoconazole (nizoral) which she claims eases sunburn.

The woman, Cindie Allen-Stewart from Texas, says she uses shaving cream to ease her sunburn – menthol shaving cream to be exact.

Cindie says she smothers it all over her burnt areas and leaves it 30 minutes to soothe her skin.

She wrote on Facebook: "It's 30 minutes, rinse. The next day, if you still feel hot areas of a burn, reapply. Then wait another 30 minutes and rinse."

The stay-at-home mum shared photos of her hack online as she told people of her discovery.

Her trick was originally posed in 2018, however has gained traction again recently after going viral and racking up 43,000 likes and a huge 233,000 shares.

Cindie said her husband was the one who initially shared his home remedy with her, after learning it from his own mother.

She uses shaving cream purchased on Amazon after struggling to find menthol-infused foam in stores.

The mum added: "It may seem like it's a strange shaving ritual, but trust me!

"Don't rub it in, just let it sit on your skin. It will start bringing all that heat out (you'll be able to feel it).

"Then, after about 30 minutes, the shaving cream will seem like it has dissolved in spots.

"It will seem like it's not as moist and a little dried out. You will feel as if you're becoming a little cold, at least on the sunburned part of your body. THAT IS A GOOD SIGN!

"Next, rinse it off in a lukewarm or cool shower or bath. It's just to get the residue off."

Be warned that there is no scientific evidence to suggest shaving cream works as a sunburn remedy, however it is believed that menthol can help soothe burns.

The hack comes after it was worryingly revealed that more than 100 under-1s have been to hospital with sunburn in the last five years – prompting stark warning for parents.
