Watch the Hummer EV Turn Electricity into Motion
The GMC Hummer EV is getting close to its full-production run this fall, which means that it’s getting closer to your driveway. Reminding you that this 1000-hp Hummer can hustle, the folks at GMC filmed it launching with its “Watts to Freedom” mode. This mode is effectively the Hummer’s launch-control system, and it takes full advantage of the Hummer’s multi-motor EV platform.
According to the folks at GMC, the Hummer EV can sprint to 60 mph with this launch mode in about three seconds. As you can see from the video above, this Hummer can seriously move. The launch looks similar to what you’d experience from Tesla’s Ludicrous mode. While the “Watts to Freedom” mode pushes full power to the Hummer’s three motors, it also tells the truck’s air suspension to lower the rig two inches.
Launching this Hummer EV seems simple enough. Not only does the instrument cluster instruct you on how to launch the Hummer EV while you’re doing it, but you also don’t need to bring your engine RPM up like you would with an internal-combustion powered vehicle. As such, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of folks violently turning electricity into motion when this Hummer hits the streets.
According to GMC, the first round of these Hummers hit the assembly line this fall, which means these trucks will be heading to customers sooner rather than later. Until then, you’ll just have to watch the video above to get your Hummer EV fix.
