Unicorn 1994 Toyota Pickup With Just 94 Miles Up for Auction at Mecum
When looking for a used 1990s Toyota Pickup—one of the forefathers of the Toyota Tacoma, known for absurd ruggedness and reliability—it’s not surprising to see examples with odometers at the 200,000 mile mark or more. These trucks were used hard and held onto for a long time. It’s rare to see an example in good condition with 100,000 miles or less—and they carry a real premium. But 94 miles? That’s a once or twice in a lifetime sort of thing.
A Rock-Solid Foundation
This 1993 Toyota Pickup came off the assembly line with the legendarily unkillable 2.4-liter 22RE I-4 engine. This storied four-banger was good for about 105 hp and its 136 lb-ft of torque and it passed that power through a stout W56-E five-speed manual transmission. It’s also a four-wheel-drive model, with its power split by a 6-B “quiet gear” driven transfer case with a 21 spline input and a 27 spline output shaft. After that, torque was sent to the front and rear differentials, each with a 4.10:1 ratio and the front wheels came with manual locking hubs. Power steering was optional for a 1993 four-cylinder and this owner went for it, the right call in our opinion.
Not Even Broken In
Originally, the 15-inch six hole steel wheels wore a set of mud and snow rated blackwall tires in 225/75R15 but those have been replaced with a set of Goodyear Wrangler AT tires in 235/75R15. Not a drastic change but it is one, nevertheless. The immaculate body is a regular cab, short bed painted in Forest Green. The bed shows no signs of any lining as the original body color remains and in perfect condition. It does feature a pair of stripes on each side of the truck in that typical ’90s style.
Inside, you’ll find that the interior is all original, even the jack system behind the driver’s seat is still there. The original AM/FM stereo still works and you can blast your old tapes through the original speaker system. Everything is in its original, as-new state and this truck doesn’t even look like it’s aged one bit as it was carefully stored for its 28 years of existence.
How to Buy a Unicorn
If you want to get your hands on it, you’ll have to wait until Janurary 6-16, 2022, as it will be a part of the Kissimmee Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Florida. You’re going to want to bring a lot of money with you, as the last time a Toyota Pickup truck like this went to auction on eBay, it went for $45,100 with only 84 miles on its odometer. We expect this example to go for around the same price or more as these trucks continue to hold their sky-high values.
