Around 76 percent of drivers said they would prefer to have connected services included in their next vehicle. PAYD insurance bases the premiums on how well and how long they are on the road for.

For drivers, it is often a benefit as they could end up paying less for their insurance.

Typically, if someone drives less, they are probably at a lower risk of making a claim, making the premiums lower.

The same goes for pay-how-you-drive insurance types, where safer drivers are considered a lower risk, and thus will also see cheaper premiums.

These types of insurance can be suitable options for younger drivers who have recently obtained their licence.

Verex Group, the market leader in dedicated connected car services, has highlighted how drivers are demanding more from their next vehicle purchase.

New technologies can already be seen across different manufacturers and vehicle types.

Drivers of more current cars have the ability to control the temperature, lock the car remotely and even check the fuel, all from an app.

Some more technologically advanced cars, like Tesla and Mercedes Benz, even allow the driver to summon the car to the driver.

Because of evolving technology, motorists are constantly adapting to new automotive and connected data solutions designed to make driving easier.

Mark Aryaeenia, CEO at Verex Group, said drivers are now expecting more tech solutions from their vehicles to benefit them as much as possible.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “The connected technology in these vehicles now means that the manufacturers can start delivering a portfolio of additional services to their customers that they couldn’t before.

“It’s moving much more to a digital experience. A much more intimate experience, that’s where the manufacturers are trying to go, so they’re factoring that into the customer experience as well.
