Radford’s first Lotus Type 62-2 coachbuilt model will be limited to just 62 examples worldwide. However, 12 of these models will be available in the unique John Player Special livery made famous by a range of top F1 greats.

The JPS model will be “the most extreme version” of the world’s first modern Radford machine and promises a range of upgrades.

The car will make its first official debut at next week’s Goodwood Revival where fans can get a closer look.

Speaking after the launch, Button said: “The John Player special Type 62-2 is the most extreme Type 62-2 that money can buy.

“It is low, sleek and powerful and sports one of the most iconic racing liveries ever created.

“[It’s] one of the liveries that the heroes of Formula 1 such as Emerson Fittipaldi and Ayrton Senna used to race with, in the cars that made me want to be a driver.”

Radford has already announced the new car will also launch in a classic design that mimics the original Type 62 sportscar and one which uses the old Gold Leaf F1 livery.

However, Radford promises the JPS Type 62-2 will be “lighter, faster and more focussed” than the other models making it a truly special design.

The model will produce a massive 600bhp from its 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine.

Owners will also benefit from upgraded pistons, camshafts, calibration and larger and upgraded supercharger.

The JPS model will also offer upgraded brakes with AP Monobloc callipers and fully carbon-ceramic brake rotors.

The front of the car will have a more pronounced splitter while the model will also be fitted with wider air intakes to cool the more powerful engine.

The car’s diffuser will be more extreme which will contribute to increased aerodynamic provenance.
