First 2023 Corvette C8 Z06 Convertible Up for Auction at Barrett-Jackson
At the 2022 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, the first production Z06 Corvette coupe raked in a staggering 3.6 million bucks when the gavel fell. Of course, that was for charity, but it’s still a jaw-dropping amount for a crack at the first retail Z06 supercar coming out of Bowling Green.
Well, GM is doing the same charity deal for front-of-line privileges to buy the first retail production Z06 Corvette C8 drop-top! This one will happen at the 2022 Palm Beach, Florida, Barrett-Jackson auction to be held April 7-9. Look for the convertible 2023 Z06 Corvette to cross the block on Saturday, April 9, around 4:30 p.m. EST on the History Channel to benefit the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), the nation’s largest organization exclusively dedicated to representing historically Black colleges and universities.
“Supporting nonprofit organizations that provide higher education opportunities for young men and women has long been one of the pillars of our charitable endeavors,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We have helped raise more than $144 million to date for many deserving organizations and we are excited to provide a platform in Palm Beach to raise funds and awareness for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and do it with such an iconic vehicle from our incredible partners at Chevrolet.”
The first retail production 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ Convertible (Lot #3005) represents the first time Chevrolet has ever offered the Z06 with a retractable hard top roof, making this generation of Z06 convertible uniquely track-capable compared to soft top versions. The Z06 is powered by the all-new 5.5-liter LT6, the highest-horsepower naturally aspirated V-8 to hit the market in any production car ever, at 670 hp. Unique features include an available carbon-fiber-wrapped steering wheel and shift paddles, custom leather-wrapped instrument panel and doors, sueded microfiber upper interior trim, and three seating options with leather and carbon-fiber trim. The winning bidder will have the opportunity to customize the first retail production Z06 convertible to their liking, choosing everything from body and roof colors to interior, wheels, and brakes. But the big question is how much someone is willing to spend to be the first kid on the block with a drop-top C8 Z06?
