David Kaiser, Head of Research and Development at Liqui Moly said petrol additives were a “good choice” for drivers as it limits the risk of damage. Liqui Moly said they have developed a whole new additive just for E10 fuel.
They said additives developed to run on E10 fuel also offer corrosion protection which prevents more damage.
The new additive can also compensate for power loss to some extent making it ideal for those who regularly use their car.
Mr Kaiser said: “It improves combustion, thereby ensuring better acceleration, particularly in the partial load range.”
He added: “This makes it a good choice for any motorist who doesn’t want to have to deal with the disadvantages of E10.”
Classic car experts at Hagerty Insurance has previously urged road users to use additives.
When storing classic cars, they urge drivers should use a lead replacement additive to help prevent corrosion.
For modern classics, Hagerty says catalytic-friendly additives should be looked into.
For those who are unsure of what they need, Hagerty urges drivers to get in touch with vehicle manufacturers or owner clubs directly.

However, Liqui Moly said there was one problem where additives had limitations.
This particularly was a problem around material tolerance with cars still likely to be partially damaged.
They warned the extra ethanol in E10 fuel can attack the fuel seals and hoses on older vehicles.
However, they warn no additive would be fully able to deal with the possible damages.
