The new deal will protect more than 1,000 jobs at the plant and comes after a massive U-turn from the firm. Parent company Stellantis previously warned it would not guarantee it would continue to invest in the UK plant.
They said a decision one ether to build electric cars at the factory would hinge on Government support which appears to have been reached.
Vauxhall is set to announce further details on the new plant at a press conference later today
GB News host Bradley Harris said it was brilliant news” for the thousands of workers who had waited patiently for news.
He suggested there had been “negotiations” between Vauxhall and the Government which may have won over the iconic company.
He said: “There have been reports they are set to announce the building of new electric vans.
“This is brilliant news… If this is to happen it means this investment would be worth hundreds of millions of pounds right here in the North West.
“It will secure, quite crucially, just over 1,000 jobs.
“So for the around 800 or so workforce plus the thousands more in the supply chain who have been waiting for months for this… hopefully in a few hours time will find out some certainty.”

He added: “Supposedly there has been some negotiation between the company and the Government on how to support this plan.
“Fingers crossed these new electric vans will be just the thing these workers need.”
Stellantis is currently in the process of building two further battery plants across Europe.
One is being built in France and the other in Germany with a third rumoured to be set in Italy.
