The 2021 Genesis G80 Gets a Handsome New Look

Hyundai’s luxury sub-brand Genesis has finally revealed the newest version of its G80 mid-size sedan. The 2021 G80 sports a handsome new corporate design language that’s set compete against the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The new looks, which Genesis calls its “Athletic Elegance” design, uses many of the same aesthetics found on the company’s bigger flagship sedan, the G90. The “Crest” grille is prominently featured up front, finished in chrome to match the sizable wheels. Like on the G90, stacked horizontal lines are the theme for the lighting, with slim headlights, side markers, and taillights.

The interior has received a significant update as well, with a simplified dashboard and a massive center-mounted infotainment screen.

Genesis has yet to release specs for the new G80, but considering it uses the same rear-wheel-drive-based architecture from the company’s GV80 SUV, expect it to be available with a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four or a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6. Like with the rest of Genesis’s portfolio, we expect the G80 to be available with all-wheel drive, and use an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.

Pricing for the 2021 Genesis G80 has not yet been released, but our colleagues at Car and Driver estimate it should be cheaper than its segment rivals by a few thousand dollars, with a starting price under $50,000. Expect it to arrive at dealerships this year, a few months after the GV80.
