Kia to go all-electric in major markets by 2040

In Europe, Kia has accelerated this process with plans to go all-electric by 2035.

South Korean carmaker, Kia has announced its plans to go full electric across all major markets by 2040. The announcement is in-line with its plans to achieve 100 per cent carbon neutrality across its supply chain and manufacturing network by 2045.

The company stated that by 2040, its entire product lineup will consist of only electric vehicles. However, in Europe, Kia has accelerated this process with plans to go all-electric by 2035.

Kia also stated that all of its production facilities will run purely on renewable energy by 2040. Further, the company’s business sites in the USA, Korea, China and India will transition to solar energy electricity generation.

The Korean carmaker recently teased the arrival of the EV9, the brand’s flagship EV offering which is said to be globally unveiled in the coming weeks. The EV9 is part of a host of new EVs to be introduced by Kia and its sister company, Hyundai.
